Ichizo’s whimsical cups and bowls will bring you a smile.
Using the traditional techniques and colours of Kutani porcelain in the Kaga area of Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan, Ichizo creates works that are utterly original and contemporary. Ichizo has made a conscious effort not to conform to the framework of tradition. His playful creativity takes him into unexplored territory of form and expression.

Most of his work is handbuilt, allowing the freedom to create extraordinary shapes. Some may have become familiar with his work through workshops he held on Saltspring and in Vancouver in 2007.
